What is PTD coverage?
A:
If you or your Insured Spouse’s (If Joint Coverage elected) injury results in Permanent Total Disability within 90 days after the date of the covered accident (subject to the conditions detailed in the Insurance Documents), and the disability continues for six months, we will pay the $10,000 complimentary benefit amount and the additional benefit amount for the plan you select. PERMANENTLY TOTALLY DISABLED/PERMANENT TOTAL DISABILITY - means that an insured person: (1) Has suffered a Paralysis, Double Dismemberment or other covered condition as explained in your Insurance Documents due to a covered accident; (2) Is Permanently unable to engage in any of the usual activities of a person of like age and sex whose health is comparable to the insured person immediately prior to the accident and (3) Is under the care of a Doctor.
Can I be turned down for this coverage?
A:
If you are a Fingerhut customer between ages 18 to 80 you cannot be turned down for this coverage. Enrollees ages 70 to 80 will be eligible for 50% of the benefit amount. The Permanent Total Disability accident coverage terminates at age 85.
If I've had health problems can I still sign up?
A:
Yes! All eligible Fingerhut customers who complete the simple online enrollment process will be accepted. In fact, at no time in this process will you need to answer questions about your health, your income, or your current financial status.
Can I get coverage for my spouse?
A:
Yes, your spouse is eligible for this valuable coverage too. Simply select a joint plan and your spouse will be covered for 50% of the Additional Coverage benefits that you’ve selected. Only the primary insured is eligible to receive the $10,000 Total Permanent Disability complimentary coverage provided by Fingerhut.
Will my rates ever go up?
A:
Your rates cannot be changed individually. The insurance company has the right to change your rates only if the same change is made to the entire group under the policy.

The amount of benefits provided depends upon the plan selected. Premium will vary with the amount of benefits selected.
